CurrenTag is built to need as little of your data as possible. Everything you scan and save stays on your phone. Nothing is sent to us or to any server we control, and there are no accounts, ads, or trackers.
The camera is used only to read the price on a tag. Photos are processed on your device to recognise the number and are not stored or uploaded. We never see your camera.
If you allow it, your approximate location is used once, on-device, to guess the local currency where you are shopping — so the app can pre-fill the right "from" currency. Your location is never stored by us or sent anywhere. You can deny this and set the currency manually; the app works the same.
Prices you save, along with any shop or place you type in, are stored only on your phone. You can delete any item, or clear everything, from the History tab at any time. Deleting the app removes this data.
To convert prices, the app fetches daily exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API. This is a simple request for public rate data and does not include anything personal about you.
We do not collect personal data, create user profiles, show ads, use analytics or tracking, or share or sell any information. There is no login and no cloud account.
The app is a general-purpose shopping tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone.
